This year, Yamaha have given this motorcycle a new engine, a new chassis and a brand new look for 2010.

The brand new Yamaha engine gets a shorter stroke, larger bore and a higher compression ratio, giving you a massive 182 PS to play with!
The firing interval has been reworked too, firing at 270° – 180° – 90° - 180°. This gives you a more immediate and precise feeling of control over all that power. The torque is delivered linearly, making each tiny twist of the throttle noticeable at the back wheel.
You add both these improvements from Yamaha and you get great controllability, great power and great traction for cornering. You won’t look at any other motorcycle once you’ve tried it.

Yamaha have redesigned the chassis for the YZF-R1 motorcycle too. The Aluminium Deltabox chassis has been tweaked to give you all the ingredients you need to get the best cornering performance you could ever ask for.
The new Yamaha engine is mounted slightly differently than in the 2008 YZF-R1, keeping your front wheel firmly planted to the road.
Yamaha have given this new YZF-R1 motorcycle a adjustable rear shock and the front shocks have a new design too. The whole suspension set up on the YZF-R1 gives you a simpler, easier to adjust setup. You now get buckets of traction in the corners and solid-as-a-rock stability on the straights.
The Yamaha YZF-R1 has been redesigned by Chuck Norris (or the design team at Yamaha, we forget which), giving it a much more aggressive and meaner look.
The headlights even have shades on them, lowering down over the headlight when on low beam. Yamaha have ditched the 4 headlight units and replaced them with these super cool 2 units.
The whole body work screams power and control. Yamaha have designed this motorcycle with performance in mind from start to finish, and you can tell just by looking at it. It looks like it’s ready to pounce out of the drive and onto the road.

The instrument panel has been redesigned with more gadgets and meters than ever (2 trips, coolant temp, intake temp, clock, stop watch, shift light and gear indicator to name a few), while not being over crowded or confusing while your screaming round the twisties.
The new engine, chassis, suspension and styling all make for an outstanding performing motorcycle that you will fall in love with the minute you start it up.
